THE second ever Strensall carnival brought a "Grand Yorkshire Day Out" to the streets of Strensall at the weekend.
Despite gloomy weather there were plenty of smiling faces in the village on Sunday afternoon, as Strensall people of all ages joined together for a day of celebration.
Although it only began last year, organisers Carol McSheffrey, Sue Eardley, Sam Webster and Lynette Nelson said they were thrilled to see around three times as many people enjoying the party this time around.
Attractions included a vintage open top bus, a tractor and trailer from nearby Piglets Farm, and Hee Haw Donkeys who had made the trip from Scarborough especially for the day.
Carol said: "It's all about bringing the community spirit back and getting out there and enjoying it together.
"We had typical Yorkshire weather, but everybody turned out anyway and the feedback as been great."
The carnival was helped this year by the Parish Council and Costcutter, who both made donations, and Haxby based community radio Vale Radio, who helped compere the whole event.
