THE Grinch, The Cat in the Hat and Yertle the Turtle are all coming to York this week with a production of Seussical the Musical.

The show opens on Wednesday, June 24, and runs until Saturday at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre with shows at 7.30pm plus a matinee on Saturday at 2.30pm.

A talented cast of 50 from community theatre group We are Theatre is behind the show, including eight year old Strensall boy Jack Hambleton who has taken on the star role of The Cat in the Hat, and his schoolmate at Robert Wilkinson School Harry Russell, who will play JoJo the boy from Whoville who befriends Horton.

Teacher Chris Evans, head of upper school at Robert Wilkinson, said: "It is great that a number of pupils from our academy are involved in the Seussical production and we are especially proud that Jack and Harry have the lead roles.

"Theatre is a wonderful medium for developing so many creative skills, alongside promoting self confidence and a deep sense of achievement."

Meanwhile, York actors Josh Sissons and Becky Warboys will take their own starring roles as Mr and Mrs Mayor of Whoville.
