A YORK woman is raising money for charity by wearing the same dress every day for a month.

Caitlin Rushby, 25, is an analyst at York St John University and last year raised money for a national charity by wearing a black dress every day, and chose to reprise the challenge this year, albeit with a different dress, and for a different cause.

She said: “It’s a different dress to last year, because I was so sick of it I gave it away to my sister the day after and haven’t seen it since.

“This one is longer than last year but short sleeved because I thought it was going to be warmer than last year, but it looks like I’ve ruined the weather for everyone.”

Caitlin’s charity of choice this year is particularly close to her heart, following the death of her grandmother, June.

She said: “I wasn’t going to do it again, because I thought I’d done it for a few years but my grandmother died in July after living in St Michael’s Hospice near Harrogate and they took amazing care of her and us so I wanted to help them.

“She was in there for only four or five days and faded really quickly in the end had been ill for years but we were there pretty much 24 hours a day and they were just amazing.”

She added: “Anything I can do to help them.

“Last year I raised £650, so I’m aiming for £700 this year to beat that.

“It also costs £700 for two people to be supported and cared for at the hospice for one day.

“I think they needed £4.4 million to offer their services they do last year, and get about £880,000 from the NHS, so they need to raise millions a year to keep going so I thought anything I can do to help them would be good.”

Caitlin is also running the York 10k and the Great North Run, but said she would probably not be wearing the dress for those challenges.

She is again keeping a daily online blog with pictures of her outfit, which can be followed at caitlinandherdress.com
