MINI beasts were crawling all over a York primary school when pupils held their very own Ugly Bug Ball.
Ladybirds were out in force, mingling with spiders, bumble bees, butterflies, caterpillars and grasshoppers as four and five-year-olds at Hempland Primary School arrived in costume for the occasion.
Early Years teacher Anna Coyle, dressed as a bee, said the celebration which has now become an annual fixture at the Heworth school rounded off their half-term mini beasts topic.
"The children have been really excited," she said. "To end our mini-beasts topic, we did a range of arts and crafts activities, making bug biscuits, playing bug party games and Sam's Safari came so the children could hold real-life mini-beasts and bugs."
