DETECTIVES searching for a missing convicted murderer will make a fresh television appeal tonight.
North Yorkshire Police have been searching for William Kerr, 53, since he absconded from court-approved premises in Hull on Thursday, March 26.
Kerr, who speaks with a Scottish accent, was jailed for life for murder at Leeds Crown Court on June 26, 1998, and released on licence on January 23.
Detective Inspector Eamonn Clarke, of North Yorkshire Police, said Kerr was believed to be in the London area, and could be trying to book into a hostel or other accommodation using a false name.
He will appear on the BBC's Crimewatch from 9pm tonight, and urge the public to get in touch if they have seen Kerr.
Det Insp Clarke said: “Kerr is a very dangerous man, so if you see him, please do not approach him. Dial 999 right away and we will send officers to investigate.”
A reward of up to £5,000 is available from Crimestoppers, for information which leads to Kerr being apprehended by police.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts should phone 999 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
