HOME care works on paper, but not in reality. Some friends in their late 80s, neither of whom are very fit, have carers for which they pay handsomely.
The gentleman is supposed to have a carer at 9am for an allocated half an hour and a 15 minute slot at 7pm in the evening to put him to bed, but sadly, they never arrive on time.
One morning they called at 11.55am to get him up, washed and dressed. The carers are wonderful, but it seems organisation is lacking with too many “clients” as they are called.
Recently four new clients across the city were cared for before my friend. This kind of treatment is appalling – who is responsible for policing this situation, if anyone?
