A COUPLE have celebrated their Diamond Wedding with a party at the New Earswick Bowls Club.
Hazel and Jack Willis, of Rawcliffe, were married 60 years ago at Holy Trinity Church in Heworth.
They had a son Robert and daughter Sandra, and now have five grandchildren, Michael, Adam, Jack, Josh and Rommanna, and two great grandchildren, Tyler and Morgan.
Hazel, 80, said she and Jack, now 83, ended up running their own taxi service after she had earlier become Station Taxis first female driver.
She said that after marrying she had worked at Rowntree's, Terry's and Shepherd, while Jack had started off as a motor mechanic and then worked as a long distance lorry driver before becoming a taxi driver.
