EASTER arrived for patients on the children’s ward at York Hospital thanks to customers at a city supermarket.
The Sainsbury's store in Bishopthorpe Road collected Easter eggs to donate to the ward after asking customers to give an egg or £1 to help. They collected more than 150 eggs.
Rachael Ackroyd, of Sainsbury’s, said: “Our staff are very charity-minded and we decided to support the hospital this year so we could provide a bit of normality for children spending their Easter in the hospital.
"We hope the Easter eggs will cheer them up during what must be a difficult time. A big thank you to all our customers for fantastic support.”
Sainsbury’s also donated 20 eggs to the York Teaching Hospital Charity Easter tombola. Fundraiser Lucy Lowthian said: “Thanks, the children will really love the Easter eggs.”
