A BIT short of cash this month? Struggling to pay for your parking permit?
Don't worry, you can pay for it in cheese.
That was the message to drivers in Whitby earlier this week, thanks to an embarrassing typo in a letter from Scarborough Borough Council.
In what may appear to be an April Fool's joke but in fact appeared a day too early, paperwork asking people to pay for their car park permit's in Whitby's St Hilda's Terrace car park included an option to "enclose a cheese made payable to Scarborough Borough Council".
It's safe to assume the council meant to ask for payment by cheque, rather than a chunk of Cheddar.
