STUDENTS from Fulford School were named Best Company in the York area at the Young Enterprise Company Programme this month.

The team will now represent York at the North Yorkshire County Final on April 29.

Their Home Bake Company sold cookery kits in jars and beat seven other teams to be overall winners.

A spokesman for the team said: “We’re thrilled to win Best Overall Company.

“It means so much to us and makes the hard work well worth it.

“We’ve come such a long way since we started the Company Programme in September last year, and have learned so much.

“We are much more confident in our skills and abilities.”

The competition is supported by HSBC. It is aimed at 15 to 19-year-olds, who set up and run their own businesses for an academic year, with guidance from local mentors.
