POPPY Wadsworth has had a great deal to face in her young life. The eight-year-old from York has a congenital birth condition that means several of her internal organs are not properly separated.
Poppy made the front page of this newspaper in February when her mum, Alison, launched an impassioned appeal to raise funds so that her daughter could have life-changing surgery in the United States.
Well wishers, among them people spurred on by reading of Poppy’s plight in the pages of The Press, have now contributed more than £11,000 to the appeal that would give Poppy the surgery she needs so badly.
Like Alison, we are touched by the response and hope that it continues, along with support for the fundraising efforts now planned to help reach the £50,000 target. For Poppy’s sake, please keep giving generously.
