A CHARITY night at a Poppleton restaurant has raised £1,800 for good causes.
The event was held at the Bengal Brasserie and saw more than 90 people attend a special fundraising meal.
The Lord Mayor of York, Cllr Ian Gillies, was among the attendees at the event which was organised by owner Dobir Molik for the Lord Mayor’s charities York Against Cancer and York Teaching Hospital Charity.
Cllr Gillies said: “They put on a great meal and there were more than 90 people there.
“There was also a crew from Bangladeshi television there, recording – it wasn’t about us, but we ended up on their report. It was a smashing night, it was very good and we’re very pleased to see that amount raised for the charities.”
