FORMER York council leader Rod Hills has been commemorated with a memorial photograph at the Barbican.
A photograph of the late Cllr Hills was unveiled in the lobby of the Barbican - a facility he always championed - in a special ceremony on Wednesday.
The Trustees of the Rod Hills Memorial Trust Fund, which gives financial assistance to students attending the University of York, said there had been no public recognition of his Hill’s work for the city since his death in 2003.
At the unveiling York's Labour party chairman Viv Kind - who served as a councillor under Mr Hills - paid tribute to his political achievements for York.
She said: "Rod’s aspiration for the council and for York was high and his achievements were many.
"His 18 years at the helm, from 1984 to 2002, will come to be seen as an important part of York's radical story."
