RAILWAY enthusiasts got ready for Pancake Day at York’s National Railway Museum by cooking up traditional treats on the footplate of a locomotive.
Paul Lewin, from the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway, is seen practising on board the narrow gauge locomotive Prince, which is on loan from the Welsh centre.
Museum operations manager Noel Hartley said: “Cooking on a footplate has its challenges, especially when flipping with a shovel, but with plenty of oil, butter and skill this recipe is a winner.”
During this week’s half-term, and to mark Shrove Tuesday, the NRM is serving pancakes with marmalade in homage to Paddington Bear.
