THIS year’s JORVIK Viking Festival continues this week, building to a never-before-seen finale.
Despite the world coming to an end last year with Ragnarok – the Viking apocalypse – the story continues this half-term with a schedule of events running until the weekend.
Already, the festival has seen a surprise proposal during a Viking banquet at the Merchant Taylor’s Hall on St Valentine’s Day, and will continue with literary, folk and art events for all ages, and combat-themed activities each day at the Guildhall.
This year’s grand finale, on Saturday, will see a sound-and-light spectacular at the Eye of York exploring the origins of Norse legend and the creation of the nine realms and the first ever Norse battle.
