CAN I thank you on behalf of the family for your article about the death of my great uncle and former The Press photographer, Jim ‘Mitch’ Mitchinson (The Press, January 19).
I searched the internet, more in hope than expectation, looking for an electronic copy of his York Minster fire photo and was delighted to discover the article.
Such a statement of respect from former employers, colleagues and friends was not something I expected to find, but was more than welcome and rang so true of my childhood memories of him.
Jim will remain in my memory as a dapper gent with neat beard, cigarette and interesting tale to tell and all those quoted captured his essence, and he will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Once again, our thanks for your kind tribute.
Vicky Newton, Leeds.
