The robot was at the Designer Outlet yesterday to laucned the 415 buses, whic will serve Selby, Fulford and York.
The state of the art MAX vehicles have luxury high backed seating, free WIFI and the very latest in journey planning technology for customers.
Arriva Yorkshire's Nigel Featham said: “The new MAX buses offer a great package of benefits for passengers. We believe it will be a huge hit with customers and are looking forward to the buses hitting the road in Yorkshire.”
The wifi has been funded by a £320,000 Government grant, as part of York's status as one of 22 SuperConnected Cities.
The city's council cabinet member for transport David Levene said he hoped the new facilities would encourage more people to travel by bus.
He added: "Our aim is to encourage even more people to travel by bus and increase passenger numbers by 18 per cent by 2015. This is just another way in which we’re helping to make bus travel more attractive for new and existing commuters.”
