A POPULAR York village pub has re-opened today following a major refurbishment.

The Blacksmiths Arms in Naburn has trebled the size of its kitchen and added new fixtures and fittings.

Maria Taylor, who has run the pub with her husband Ian for ten years, said: “Our Sunday carvery has been really popular, and we want to start offering it every day.

"We’ll be offering beef, loin of pork with crackling, turkey breast, sugar glazed gammon and shoulder of lamb every day at lunchtime, not just Sundays.”

She added: “The main aim was to extend our kitchen so we can cope with the demand but then we thought we may as well get the rest done at the same time to bring the whole pub right up to date.”
