WORRIED residents have handed over scores of letters of objection to draft Local Plan proposals for their village.
The villagers have formed an action group to fight plans which they are worried will damage the green belt in Naburn and Fulford, and have already sent dozens of objections by post and email.
Yesterday, the group's Philip Ashworth and Fiona Phillips hand delivered another 60 letters to the city council, objecting to the plans to use land near their villages for industrial, storage and distribution use and as a site for gypsies and travellers.
Mr Ashworth said: “Naburn is a small, rural community but the sheer volume of objections we are delivering today shows the depth of feeling of local residents."
The York Outer MP Julian Sturdy has added his support to the campaign.
Mr Sturdy said: "With such a sizeable portion of the village writing in, it is clear that the village of Naburn has spoken. Now it's time for the Council to listen and to withdraw this ill-thought through proposal without further delay."
