CYCLING charity Sustrans is looking for volunteers to help search for mistletoe along its Foss Islands and York-Selby cycle paths in Yorkshire this month, as part of work to monitor the plants and animals that live on the National Cycle Network.
The appeal is part of a national campaign which aims to monitor all species along traffic-free cycle paths to make the routes more wildlife friendly, and Sustrans urgently needs more volunteers.
Seasonal searches are carried out for a wide variety of species from woodland flowers such as snowdrops and wild garlic spring to hedgerow plants like blackthorn and hawthorn and alien species such as Giant Hogweed and Japanese Knotweed.
