STUDENTS thinking about pursuing a career in the countryside were given the opportunity to find out what is on offer at a countryside careers day.
The event – held recently at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate through the Yorkshire Agricultural Society – offered hands-on experience of life in the country so North Yorkshire students could discover the careers available and qualifications needed.
There was also a fun element for 46 Year 9 students from Tadcaster Grammar School as they took part in paintballing and mountain biking.
The school’s partnership development manager Amanda Crossley said: “Our students certainly took advantage of all that the event had to offer, including watching gun dogs at work, building a dry stone wall, sewing a saddle and riding a racehorse.”
