WE'VE had Neighbourhood Watch and Shop Watch. Now pubs in Acomb and west York are banding together to form Pub Watch.
Seventeen pubs have already signed up to the scheme, which aims to help tackle the problems of drunken antisocial behaviour.
Pubs will share information about people causing trouble, which could lead to them being banned from every establishment in the scheme.
The idea is the brainchild of The Ainsty's Wendi Hyde. She approached police in the hope a scheme would make pubs safer and more enjoyable for customers.
What a great idea. Pub Watch schemes have proved effective elsewhere. And it is good to see publicans themselves taking the initiative to try to tackle problem drinking and ugly behaviour.
