A MOTHER whose son has type one diabetes has organised a fundraising event to raise money for Diabetes UK.
Shirley Nicholls, of Wass, has organised a black tie event to be held on Halloween at the Feathers Hotel, Helmsley.
In 2011 Shirley's eldest son David was diagnosed with type one diabetes at the age of 18 whilst her niece Jenny, 27, has lived with diabetes since the age of nine.
Along with her friend Fiona Nellis, the pair have organised the event and secured sponsorship from local business man Andrew Morgan and his company Curzon Company.
Shirley said: "I would like to thank all of the local businesses who have been so generous with their donations. With the recent medical developments from the US it is hoped that a long term cure for type one will soon be available for sufferers of this lifelong condition."
Tickets are £35 and there will also be an auction with prizes donated from local businesses.
For tickets phone Shirley on 01347 868132.
