YORK is at the top of the league table in Yorkshire for the percentage of pupils achieving at least five good GCSE grades in the summer.
Nearly 62 per cent of pupils achieved five or more A-C grades including English and Maths, followed by North Yorkshire with 60 per cent.
The figure compares with 53 per cent across Yorkshire and Humber, which was the worst regional result in the country.
