A SHOP has been ram raided in Scarborough and tobacco and alcohol stolen.
Many members of the public called the police after a Land Rover was seen smashing into the window of the Cooperative Store in Newlands Park Drive in Scarborough and a number of people were seen coming out of the shop and driving away.
The incident happened at 3am today.
The stolen vehicle used in the break-in was later found in Gildercliffe, Scarborough. It had been stolen from a property in Scalby Avenue.
Alcohol and tobacco were stolen in the incident which caused considerable damage to the front of the shop.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and ask for Scarborough CID.
