THIS barber is more familiar with removing hair than growing it - but has added a new feature to his face to raise funds for war heroes.
Mesut Kara, the owner of Yorkish Barber shop on Cornlands Road, Acomb, is growing a moustache to raise money for armed forces charity Help for Heroes, which supports injured servicemen and women.
The former solider in his native Turkey, who saw active service and lost nine comrades 20 years ago, decided to embark on the challenge to remember his fallen friends.
He said: "I'm doing this because I still suffer flashbacks and I want to raise money for people that are suffering.
"I've already raised £1,500 through customers since I started growing it in August and want to keep going until December."
