POLICE cordoned off the centre of an East Yorkshire market town after an accident on a zebra crossing.
A stretch of Market Place and High Street through Market Weighton was closed off for around an hour yesterday morning, witnesses said.
Local reports said a pedestrian had been knocked down and one passer-by said there had been about eight police vehicles on the scene and a police helicopter deployed, with police examining a red car within the cordon.
Humberside Police said there had been incident on a zebra crossing in High Street, outside Clubleys estate agents, involving a red Vauxhall Corsa, at 9.18am, but declined to give further details.
A spokeswoman appealed for witnesses to contact the force on 101.
