SELBY’S newly formed Green Party group will be holding its first meeting on Monday, October 13 and is inviting members of the public to come and join its campaign against fracking.

Founder member Caroline Littler said: “Many people are desperate for an alternative to the three main parties and now Selby has one. We will be campaigning against austerity, public sector cuts and especially fracking.

This damaging practice is already happening in the nearby East Riding and fracking companies have been given licenses to frack in this area. The Greens are the only party that opposes fracking and we will be pushing to make Selby a frack-free town.”
