DESPITE missing several players, Acomb Hockey Club men’s first team toppled Mirfield 3-0 in Yorkshire League division four north.
The hosts were depleted and struggled to repel the Tangerine force.
A well-worked penalty corner saw Matt Dickenson open the scoring in the tenth minute, though hopes of adding to that early strike were thwarted by the Mirfield keeper.
It needed a second penalty corner at the start of the second half for Acomb to double their lead, Dickenson again on target.
Ryan Smith and Rob Ireland menaced on either flank, but it was a Dave Richardson pass that teed up Dickenson to complete his hat-trick.
Acomb men’s II’s division five north game at home to Boston Spa IV was called off after the visitors were unable to field a side.
