A 24-year-old Selby man has been arrested on suspicion of three assaults in the town.

Three men were left with injuries - two of which required hospital treatment - when the 24-year-old allegedly launched into a series of violent attacks within half an hour of each other in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The first man, aged 21, suffered minor injuries just before 4am on New Millgate as he waited with two friends.

The second assault took place minutes later when an 18-year-old was walking between Mr C’s takeaway, Micklegate, and The Square, Water Lane.

The teenager suffered serious facial injuries and was taken to York Hospital.

A third victim, 21, also required hospital treatment when he was violently attacked with a piece of wood walking along The Chimes and suffered a serious head injury.
 
Police are now appealing for information about the assaults.

Det Con Kendra Wedgewood, of Selby CID, said: “I urge anyone who witnessed any of the incidents and has not yet contacted the police, to do so straight away, as they may vital information which could progress my enquiries.”
