THESE pictures capture the brutal attack that led to a York man being jailed for two years.

Richard Ian Nicholson, 40, was jailed by York Crown Court on Friday for two years, for this attack on Lance Thiim, in and outside a block of flats in Victor Street, Bishophill, on July 27.

As reported in The Press on Saturday, Nicholson repeatedly tried to punch and kick Mr Thiim over the bannister of the stairwell, before the attack continued in the street.

Nicholson knocked the victim to the ground and punched him eight times in the head while Mr Thiim lay on the ground, then kicked and stamped on his head and neck as his body became limp, before walking away.

Recorder Gurdial Singh said he believed it was "amazing" Mr Thiim was still alive. Nicholson admitted the attack and said he was remorseful.
