ORGANISERS of York’s historic cycle rally are pressing ahead with plans to revive the event next year after a two-year absence.
The rally, which started in 1945, was cancelled in 2013 following terrible weather but will be held again on June 20-21, 2015.
A new committee says it has raised funds of about £2,000, which will cover critical event insurance. More fundraising will be needed to cover venue hire and toilet/showers, but it is confident this will be achieved.
The committee says that, subject to final official confirmation, grass track racing will be back, and all cycling organisations, clubs and associations will be invited to exhibit free of charge at the rally.
