Tailbacks clearing after A59 crash - UPDATED
HEAVY tailbacks are clearing after an accident closed the A59 at Green Hammerton blocked the road in both directions.
The police, fire and ambulance services were called to the scene just before 8am today.
The collision involved a Fiat Punto and a VW Polo, and two people have been taken to York District Hospital with what the ambulance service has described as minor injuries.
Congestion reached as far back as the A1(M) junction 47 at Allerton Park, but the road has now been reopened and queues are starting to clear.
