A NEW health centre, pharmacy and shops at the University of York’s Campus 3 (The Press, September 1)? In the words of Victor Meldrew, “I don’t believe it.”

There are already shops and a pharmacy on Badger Hill, and as for the irony of a new health centre adding to more pollution by building on a green-belt site, it will only add to more chest problems, more health problems from exhaust particulates, benzene, butadiene, carbon monoxide, and microscopic soot particles.

Surely it is better to prevent rather than cure all the time.

Plus they are always saying the budgets are tight for certain procedures on the NHS, so how can a new health centre be built?

Enough is enough with this scavenging frenzy to build on every square inch of green. Please stop it for our health and the health of future generations.

Let our green environment breathe for us – leave it alone.
