DEVELOPERS and residents are celebrating the completion of the £2 million affordable housing development in Elvington.

Jubilee Court, part of York Housing Association, includes 12 affordable rented homes and six for shared ownership.

The association's chief executive Julia Histon said: “Property prices in the commuter villages around York continue to rise, and often this can make it difficult for young families to stay in the places where they have grown up, and that is why developments of this type are so important for local communities.

“We were very pleased to have the support of City of York Council for this scheme, which creates a new high-quality community within this popular village.”

Jubilee Court received £330,000 from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA). Abdul A Ravat, Area Manager at the HCA said, and the site's completion has been welcomed by City of York cabinet member Cllr Tracey Simpson-Laing.
