A MOTORCYCLIST died when he collided with a car in North Yorkshire, police have revealed.
The 41-year-old man from Sherburn-in-Elmet was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which happened at about 4pm yesterday on the B1222 near Newthorpe, South Milford.
"A silver Alfa Romeo car was in collision with a white Honda CBF motorbike, approximately 250 metres north of the junction with Gorse Lane," said a North Yorkshire Police spokeswoman.
"The driver of the Alfa Romeo, a 73-year-old man from Leeds, was taken to Leeds General Infirmary with a serious injury to his hand."
She said the motorcycle was travelling towards Sherburn in Elmet and the Alfa Romeo was travelling in the opposite direction.
"The road was closed until 9pm to allow emergency services to deal with the casualties and for collision investigators to examine the scene."
She appealed for anyone who saw either of the vehicles prior to the collision or witnessed the actual crash, to contact police by calling 101 or emailing mcit@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk, quoting reference 12140142496.
