THE YORK federation of the Townswomen's Guild has celebrated its 85th anniversary with a special lunch at the Park Inn.
Forty-five members of the city's four Guilds - York Central, Acomb, Fulford and Dringhouses - were joined by the organisation's honourary national treasurer Irene McCartney for the special celebration meal last week.
With around 100 members across the city, the four guilds meet monthly and usually hear speakers on topics of interest, raise money for charity, and discuss topical issues.
The guilds always welcome new members, and anyone interested should contact Josephine Shaw, secretary of the Acomb guild and press and publicity officer for the York federation, on 01904 798694 or js5654@yahoo.co.uk.
