THE iconic Duchess of Hamilton steam loco has been replicated in cake to mark the opening of a new York furniture store.
The huge cake replica was given to staff and volunteers from the National Railway Museum as it begins the two month countdown to the start of the 2014 trainspotting season.
Oak Furniture Land commissioned acclaimed cake artist Molly Robbins of Molly’s Creative Cakes and Cake Bomb to create the cake to celebrate the opening of its first store in York at Clifton Moor and pay tribute to the museum, where the Duchess resides.
Store manager, Jason Matthews said the store was the company's ifth in Yorkshire and had created seven new local jobs.
Amy Banks, project manager for the forthcoming trainspotting season at the museum said h cake was a 'wonderful gesture' and demonstrated how trainspotting inspired artistic creation.
"We are working hard on planning our season of events, which includes an art commission by acclaimed artist Andrew Cross and theatrical performances and family trails.
