An unprovoked assault at a petrol station left a man with a broken nose and jaw.
The assault happened at about 10.30pm on Tuesday, when a group of four or five men approached another group outside the Jet garage, on Lawrence Street, in York.
The men were verbally abused and a 22-year-old York man was knocked to the ground and suffered a broken nose, suspected broken jaw and bruises to his face.
PC Alan Collier, of York Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “This was a nasty and apparently unprovoked assault which left a man needing hospital treatment.
“If you have any information which could assist my investigation I urge you to come forward.”
Anyone who can help should phone PC Collier on 101 or email to alan.collier@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk or call Crimstoppers on 0800 555111, quoting reference 12140122338.
