A MISGUIDED fruity gesture led to police being called to a quiet York street.
Officers were called to reports of a suspicious object left under the car of a resident in a street off Carr Lane, Acomb, last night.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said the resident had been on a date with a man but didn't want to continue their relationship, and the man then sent a text message to tell her he had left something under her car. Upon seeing the box, she became concerned, and phoned police at about 10.30pm.
Police attended and discovered a melon, a romantic letter and chocolates. They said they believed the package was an effort to win back the resident's affections.
