THIEVES stole between £500 and £600 after breaking into a Selby pub this week. The break-in happened at The Giant Bellflower in Gowthorpe at about 3am on Sunday.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said the thieves broke the locks of a number of fruit machines to steal the money inside. Police and North Yorkshire Fire Service were alerted to the incident at about 3.10am, after smoke was reported at the premises.
Emergency services left the scene at about 6am, but the pub opened late to allow clean-up. Anyone with information should phone North Yorkshire Police on 101.
