I DROVE through York on Sunday and noticed after years of neglect at St Leonard’s Place, French flags now adorn it.
After a number of years letting this beautiful parade go to rack and ruin, the council now try and improve it with a pathetic row of flags. I hope they have swept up all the rubbish in front of the basement windows.
The trees opposite the Cedar Court are as usually beautiful but what about all our parks, our local parks that are being left to fade away. Hull Road, Glen Gardens, Clarence Street.
All these have bowling greens in disrepair. Rowntrees Park is horrendous with droppings from the geese.
The Friends of Acomb Park are to be applauded for their efforts, but look at all the councillors congratulating them in The Press letters. No wonder Acomb residents have taken all the responsibility off the council’s shoulders.
