POLICE have renewed their appeal for a vital witness to get in touch after a fatal accident on York ring road.

A 39-year-old Rotherham woman died when a Honda motorcycle, left the road on the A1237 at Knapton, at around 11.15am yesterday.

Police desperately want to hear from the driver of a HGV which the bike overtook just before the crash.

The lorry is described as a curtain-sided lorry with red curtains and a white rear doors. Police think the driver be an important witness to the events which led to the collision.

The rider of the motorcycle, a man who is also from the Rotherham area, was hurt in the collision but his injuries are not life-threatening.

Anyone who can help should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for Traffic Constable Dave Seavers or the Major Collision Investigation Unit.

Alternatively, information can be emailed to dave.seavers@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk quoting reference 12140101844.
