Child molester jailed for abuse

York Press: Child molester jailed for abuse Child molester jailed for abuse

A YOUNG man has been jailed for four years for sex crimes against two boys that affected one of them “profoundly”.

Kyle Joseph Moorby showed both children pornographic films and tried to discredit them in their relatives’ eyes so they wouldn’t be believed if they revealed his actions, a York jury heard. The 24-year-old, who works in the hairdressing industry, sexually abused the younger child. The boy was so affected by the abuse that he was physically sick when he finally told his mother about what had happened to him.

The Recorder of York, Judge Stephen Ashurst, told Moorby: “This has had a profound effect upon this young boy.”

He bore in mind there had been a “number of traumatic events” in Moorby’s life. Moorby had had mental health problems and difficulties coming to terms with his sexuality. Moorby, of St Stephen’s Road, Acomb, denied three charges of sexual activity with the younger boy and two charges of getting a child to watch a sex act and was convicted at a trial earlier this year.

The judge jailed him for four years. He also made a sexual offences prevention order banning him from contacting the two boys in any way, having contact with anyone under 16 without social services’ permission and restricting his use of the internet.

He will be on the sex offenders’ register for life.

His barrister Robin Denny told York Crown Court he had had a “truly horrific past” but had been making progress in his life.
