AN under-strength Stamford Bridge were beaten 5-1 at home by a strong Pickering team in the Costcutter York and District Ladies Hockey League.
Bridge were a player short and outfield player Harry Wood filled in as an emergency goalkeeper.
Pickering went 2-0 up before Vicky Parvin pulled a goal back. However, despite some excellent defending by Kerry Megginson and some great saves in goal by Wood, Pickering eased to victory.
Nestle Rowntree lost 3-1 at Whitby despite taking the lead through Margi Charlson.
Vicky Mulvana was Nestle's player of the match while Helen Garnham shone on the wing.
Dunnington beat Stillington 2-0.
