Flashdance mobs turned into fashion models and window mannequins started walking as York city centre turned on the style this weekend.

Fashion City York held a series of events from Friday until today to show off must -have clothing and accessories available in the city centre stores.

In Coppergate, tourists and shoppers alike were startled when music started playing and three female models and two male models performed dances at the start of each hourly show of Fashion Rocks, which culminated in the five turning the pavement into an outdoors catwalk to highlight the very latest in fashion.

Stephanie Mensah, Coppergate Centre marketing manager, said: "Sunshine, music, dance and fashion, what more could you want? The retailers are happy and the response has been fantastic."

The models parading through the windows at Browns on Davygate drew the crowds as well, particularly the men modelling underwear.
