GREENHOUSES at Askham Bryan College’s Horticulture Department will be opened to the public later this month for a celebration of gardening.
PlantFest will be held from 10am to 4pm on May 24.
There will be gardening demonstrations throughout the day, including on seed sowing and hanging basket planting. The Plant Doctor, BBC Radio York’s Nigel Harrison, will answer questions about problem plants. Tree Surgery students will give aerial demonstrations, there will be floristry demonstrations, a raffle of bouquets and display pieces, childrens’ activities, flower arranging and hands-on crafts.
