PEOPLE in East Yorkshire are being urged not to make unnecessary emergency calls when firefighters stage their latest strike tomorrow and over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Humberside Fire & Rescue said further strikes – which are being staged nationwide by members of the Fire Brigades Union in a dispute over pensions – would take place between noon and 5pm tomorrow, between 2pm on Saturday and 2am on Sunday, and between 10am and 3pm on Sunday.
Dene Sanders, the Chief Fire Officer at Humberside Fire and Rescue, said: ““Our priority will be to respond to those calls where lives are genuinely at risk.”
