I VISITED the new John Lewis store at the weekend.
Beautiful, well laid out, a joy to the eye. Just one slight niggle. We had a coffee at the Hotel Chocolat Café. Now I have no doubt the presentation is bang up to date, but I would prefer my coffee in a cup with a handle and with its own milk jug, not a minuscule one between two.
We also had a scone each with butter and jam. Lovely scones. But again I would have preferred my scone on a plate of its own, not having to share it on a wooden platter. Not much fun cutting a scone together, with the crumbs all over, it puts you off licking your finger and hoovering up as we normal people do when tackling scone fall-out.
Oh and a tad more butter would have assisted us buttering both halves not just plonking a blob in the middle. At my time of life these things are an irritation and would be so easy to solve.
Loved the shop, though.
