SOUVENIR Postcards featuring watercolour sketches by York artist PB Rennison have been reproduced to commemorate the forthcoming Yorkshire Grand Depart of the Tour de France.

Each pack contains 20 postcards featuring scenes of Yorkshire towns, villages, landscapes and landmarks on or around the race route for a £5 donation to charity.

PB Rennison’s widow Eileen gave permission for their reproduction with proceeds going to Hosforth-based charity Bethany’s Smile which cares for children with life limited illnesses and their families.

The Tour de France postcard project is charity founder Bethany Hare’s most ambitious fundraising initiative to date.

Speaking about the project, Bethany, 14, said: “The prime purpose of my fundraising Tour de France postcard project is so that school children like myself can have a souvenir, at an affordable pocket money price, of this special cycle race as it passes through their regions, in the knowledge that their donation will help us continue to care for sick children less fortunate than themselves.”

The souvenir packs are now available on request to members of Yorkshire cycle clubs, regional tourist information offices, museums, libraries, hotels, restaurants, cafes and small shops. Yorkshire schools which wish the souvenir pack to be delivered to offer pupils at the discounted donation of a minimum £1 each, can register by e-mailing bethanyssmile@virginmedia.com
